Dear Day Job,

I'm sure you've noticed that things just aren't the same, we've been drifting apart. We used to be so happy together, but now, I find myself constantly thinking about other ways to occupy my day. And I know that you feel the same way about me. It shows in the little things, like how you don't consider my feelings when you schedule me to work weekend and night shifts (you know I'm not a night person), and in the way we barely tolerate each other when there are craft shows to prepare for and etsy orders to mail out. I'm sorry it has to be this way. I will miss your security, and steady pay cheque, your willingness to help out with pesky dental bills and your status of having "a real career". It will be better for both of us if we just stop seeing each other.  I hope that you will be able to find someone who can give you what you need.  I will pack up my things by the end of the week.

  1. Well written! You don't know how often I feel like writing that letter myself. Best of luck with the transition.

  2. You go, girl!!!!
You will find that you probably should have done it long ago.
I wish you the very best.
I don't miss my old job one bit.

  3. Thanks for the encouragement :) A little nervous and very excited. Sometimes very nervous and a little excited. It kinds goes back and forth.

  4. I am so excited for you! You will have so much more time to be creative and experiment on new designs. All the best to you!!

  5. This is so exciting to see you take this step. Right now I'm sort of self-employed as well. By that I mean that, while waiting to start grad school, I'm illustrating a book for an artist. Not as big as what you're doing, which is why I hope to gain inspiration from you and your progress. You can do it!

  6. This is so exciting! Good luck to you and I wish you all the best. Your jewelry is gorgeous and I am sure you will be fine!

  7. I love this! It's exactly how I feel as well! Congratulations and good luck!!!

  8. Yep... just give corporate America a boot in the patootie. YAY for you!
